A NEW hairdressing company which has been voted 'British Hairdresser of the year' is set to open a branch in Amersham.
HOB Salons, which received the 2009 accolade at the British Hairdressing Awards will take on the former Image Maker site, which is vacant, at 34-36 Sycamore Road.

A YOUNG entrepreneur is offering residents a chance to have a clear out while helping a children's charity.
Harry Coё, 12, a pupil of The Beacon School, Chesham Bois, has organised a 'new year bazaar' on tomorrow (23/1).

A PUBLIC meeting on how to make Amersham reduce its carbon footprint by becoming a 'transition town' takes place tonight (21/1) at Café Africa in Chesham Road.
Organiser and campaigner Russ Fleming said: "The local Chiltern Authority of Amersham and Chesham is the top polluter in the UK - if you want to do something about this or find out more or reduce your own contribution to reducing our collective carbon footprint, please attend the meeting." The event begins at 7.30pm.

THE first farmer's market of the new year in Little Chalfont is set to take place in Snells Wood car park in Cokes Lane on tomorrow (9/1).
It is due to be selling food sourced from the area between 9am and 1pm.

AMERSHAM Town Council is offering a free Christmas tree shredding service.
Residents are invited to bring their real tree to Hervines Park tomorrow (9/1) between 10am and 1pm.
The chippings will be spread on the town's parks and open spaces to aim to reduce weed growth.

LITTLE Chalfont villagers are celebrating after being given an early Christmas present - a village green.
A hectare of land, known as Burton's Wood, in Burton's Lane, will be protected from development for future generations to enjoy after being officially registered.
The recognition follows an application made to Buckinghamshire County Council in February by resident Anabel Curry backed by Little Chalfont Community Association.
Land can be registered as a town or village green if it has been used by people for 'lawful sports and pastimes' for 20 years, freely and openly.
No one objected to the bid and the council's rights of way committee followed recommendations and registered the land.

RESIDENTS of Chesham and Amersham have been named as having the worst carbon footprint than anyone else in the country.
A new survey has said householders living in the political constituency covering the two towns produce the most carbon dioxide - with the average home giving out 29.18 tonnes every year.
Research by data analysts Experian, which found a direct link between wealth and willingness to help the environment, showed the the towns to be top of the league with Henley, Oxfordshire, coming in second place and nearby Beaconsfield, which produces 28.79 tonnes annually, ranked third.
The revelations come at a time with the subject is under international scrutiny as world leaders are due to meet in Copenhagen to talk about combating global warming.

PANTO stars Peter Pan and Wendy will switch on the Christmas lights in Amersham-on-the-Hill tonight.
The actors from the Elgiva Theatre pantomime will light up the town at 5pm outside St Michael and All Angels Parish Church in Sycamore Road as part of the town's Christmas festival.
The event, organised by The Amersham Action Group, will feature choir performances and a session by the Amersham Town Band.

A NEW shop offering presents to help the less fortunate has been launched by church volunteers.
Helpers who attend King's Church have opened The Extravagant Gift Store, which is based at the site of the former Post Office in Sycamore Road, Amersham-on-the-Hill.
The volunteers will be on hand to offer customers the chance to buy a 'gift of hope' which will be sold to support children and widows living in the slums of Kampala in Uganda as part of the Revelation Life charity.
