A WOMAN whose terminally-ill brother travelled to Swiss clinic Dignitas to die has welcomed new guidelines on assisted dying but continues to press for a change in the law.
The Director of Public Prosecutions Keir Starmer QC concluded the factors which should be considered when deciding when to prosecute someone in cases of assisted suicide last week.
He said cases should be looked at on an individual basis considering factors including motivation, whether there was any violence or abuse towards the person choosing to die and whether the person assisting benefits from the death.

A blue Vauxhall Tigra collided with a red Honda CR-V on the A404 Whielden Lane at around 11pm on February 22.
The driver of the Vauxhall, 35-year-old Daniel Coupland, was declared dead at the scene. A post mortem concluded he died of multiple injuries.
The driver of the Honda, a 66-year-old man who police say is from the area, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital, where he has since died from his injuries.
His identity has not yet been released.

Daniel Coupland, 35, of Browns Road, Holmer Green, was killed when his blue Vauxhall Tigra collided with a red Honda CR-V on the A404 Whielden Lane at around 11pm.
He was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a 66-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
A post mortem concluded Mr Coupland died of multiple injuries. An inquest into the death was opened and adjourned.

Police said the motorist, who has not yet been named, was from the area.
The driver of the Honda, a 66-year-old man also from the area, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital for treatment. He was released by fire crews from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after to the fatal collision.
