Family pays tribute to fatal collision victim

Posted by Camilla Goodman on Dec 17, 12 04:37 PM in Crime

THE FAMILY of an elderly woman who died following a collision last week have paid tribute to her.

Doreen Rose Seaward, 78, of Ashford in Kent, was crossing London Road, close to the junction with Bramble Lane, in Amersham, when a Ford Fiesta was in collision with her at about 11.20am last Wednesday (Dec 12).

Mrs Seaward died at the scene from her injuries.

The tribute reads: "Doreen was much loved and she will be missed by all who knew her.
"She was part of a large and close family and leaves behind three sons and three grandchildren - but being such a warm and generous person there were many more people who knew and loved her.

"She and her husband Bert moved to Ashford from Chiswick in London, to be near to her family and to enjoy their retirement at a slower pace of life.

"After Bert died she regularly visited her sons and, valuing her independence, she insisted on making her own way when visiting. At the time of the accident she was making a regular visit to her son. It was a journey she had made many times before."
The car had been travelling from Amersham towards the Chalfonts when it was involved in the collision.

A 20-year-old man from Beaconsfield has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving and has been released on bail until 13 March.

Anyone with information can contact investigating officer PC Michael Sapwell on 101, Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
