Science success for Beacon boys

A TEAM of four young science boffins have won through to the national finals of a prestigious quiz.
The pupils from The Beacon School in Chesham Bois bagged the semi-final trophy for the Quiz Club Year 5 Science Inter-School Quiz Championship on June 15 by beating Claires Court Schools (Maidenhead), Danes Hill Preparatory School (Surrey), The Charterhouse Square School (London) and The Gateway School (Great Missenden).
The boys will now progress through to the national finals which will be held at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Abingdon on June 26.
Marketing director Marion Korzinek said: "From the solar system to the smallest creatures on earth, from an understanding of how our bodies work to the great scientific advances throughout history, from inventions that changed our world to science in our everyday lives, the quiz was highly challenging for our budding young scientists.
"It was projected to a huge screen, making it thrilling entertainment for both the teams and their supporters."
