New councillor for Amersham

LIBERAL Democrat Vera Head was voted onto Amersham Town Council last night (February 2) in a close run by-election.

The election for the Amersham Town Ward was held to replace Ros Aitken who stood down last year.

The new councillor got 286 votes, narrowly beating Conservative Andrew Fleming (282) and UKIP representative Michael Hurley (252).

Labour's Stuart Kelly got 127 votes.

The turnout was 25.9 per cent.
