A prickly silence for charity appeal Brownies

A GROUP of Brownies fell silent in a successful bid to raise funds for a wildlife hospital.
The 28 girls aged between seven and 10 from the 2nd Amersham on the Hill Brownie Group held a sponsored silence in aid of animals cared for at Tiggywinkles.
The group, who meet at Amersham Free Church Hall, raised £326.04 for their efforts.

Brown Owl Juliet Brown, said: "As part of their Wildlife Explorer badge they needed to learn about a wildlife organisation and they chose Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital as it is local. This is the world's busiest wildlife hospital and is based in Haddenham near Aylesbury.
"All were silent for one hour. We did not make it easy for them though as they had to be quite busy whilst they were silent and find ways to work in their groups. This included making a pom pom hedgehog each and completing puzzles to do with Tiggywinkles."
"In total the girls raised a sum that far exceeded our expectations. With this money we are going to sponsor a selection of the animals that are cared for at Tiggywinkles."
Jackie Noble, a volunteer from Tiggywinkles came to receive the cheque on Thursday and to tell the girls stories about the rescued animals.
The group hopes to visit the hospital in the summer to see the sponsored animals, Mrs Brown added.
