Students to 'dance for life'
TALENTED dancers from Amersham and Wycombe college are set to compete in a charity competition to raise funds for Haitians devastated by the earthquake disaster.
The dance troupe of students from the college in Stanley Hill, Amersham, will perform a piece, which portrays the trials and tribulations of life as a child soldier, at the British Red Cross's Dance for Life contest in March.
Tutor Rebecca Smedley-Shulmanm who will be choreographing the contemporary dance piece Mourning Breakfast, with Taira Foo and Eloise Degale, hopes the performance will raise awareness and money for the Red Cross efforts providing aid and relief in Haiti.
She said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for the college to be involved in a meaningful charity event, raising money for the British Red Cross, to help support their humanitarian efforts. I'm sure with the current state of things in Haiti, our fundraising efforts will be very much appreciated. "
Students from the college took part in the Dance for Life competition two years ago and won their heat. They went on to make it into the finals and won the choreography category.
