Youth club forms to give kids something to do
A NEW youth club has been set up in Little Chalfont to aim to tackle the problem of anti-social behaviour blighting the village.
The club came about after householders and shop owners complained about the problems.
It was set up Thames Valley Police, Little Chalfont Parish Council, and residents including young people from the area.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Lindsay Falloon organised a meeting between residents and youngster to try to bring an end to the problem.
Sgt Falloon said: "It became clear very early on that the reason why young people were hanging around on the streets in the evenings was because they were bored and had nothing to do in their area.
Last year Westwood Park was often used as a place for teenagers to hang-out and its pavilion was targeted several times by vandals.
Such behaviour prompted the organisations and villagers to set up the 'Chalfont Junction Youth Group' at Bell Lane School on Friday evenings.
PC Claire Annison from the neighbourhood policing team helped to organise the project. She said: "Local residents understand there is not much to do for young people in Little Chalfont, which can lead to anti-social behaviour. The residents have been very supportive of the idea and a number of people who had previously complained about anti-social behaviour have joined the club's management committee.
"The young people involved have been very enthusiastic and have come up with lots of ideas, which will make the club an exciting place to visit for themselves and other young people."
The club will run from the end of this month. For more details phone PC Annison at Amersham Police Station on 08458 505 505 or email her here.
