Snowbound police thank helpful villagers

KIND-HEARTED residents in Little Chalfont have been praised by police for giving a helping hand as they battled the recent Arctic conditions.
Thames Valley Police officers PC Claire Lloyd and PC Darren Carter were attempting to drop off a wheelchair-bound man who'd visited Amersham police station when their car became stuck in the snow.
Six householders in Sandycroft Road came to their rescue, digging them out and pushing the car until they were on their way again.

The officers came across a build-up of traffic at the Chalfont and Latimer railway bridge later on the same day. The tailbacks were caused by motorists driving slowly over the ice and not being able to make it up the other side. The officers, helped by customers from The Sugar Loaf pub, helped motorists push their cars up the incline and get the traffic moving.
PC Lloyd said: "Thanks to the community spirit displayed by some Chiltern residents, we were able to help drivers who also became stuck in the snow and offer safety advice. Their kindness meant we were able to carry out our job in some really testing circumstances."

We'd like to hear from you.
