Shop selling goodwill presents is launched by church
A NEW shop offering presents to help the less fortunate has been launched by church volunteers.
Helpers who attend King's Church have opened The Extravagant Gift Store, which is based at the site of the former Post Office in Sycamore Road, Amersham-on-the-Hill.
The volunteers will be on hand to offer customers the chance to buy a 'gift of hope' which will be sold to support children and widows living in the slums of Kampala in Uganda as part of the Revelation Life charity.
The shop will also give visitors an opportunity to 'sit and chat' for those who find the joys of Christmas marred by difficulties and pressures during the festive period.
Shoppers, who are not fans of endless preparations, will also be able to bring their gifts to the store to have them wrapped in exchange for a donation.
The shop, which will also sell church and gospel presentation material, will be open on the Saturdays before Christmas and for late night shopping on Friday (11/12).
Senior Pastor Paul Lynch said: "This year we just wanted a fresh new way to help the community of Amersham hear and understand the message of hope that the birth of Jesus brought into the world. His birth and life are an everlasting and life changing gift that is available to us all but way beyond what we deserve - a genuine extravagant gift."
He added that all families and friends from the area are invited to attend King's Church traditional Christmas Eve celebration service at 5.30pm and Christmas morning service at 10am, at the Old Baptist Chapel in Amersham Old Town.

I would urge people to read an interesting post here - after all, the Kings Church appears to be in league with a few developers....would Paul lynch care to comment on that rather negative aspect to his church?
