Amersham mum launches cook book

Posted by Greg Burns on Dec 4, 09 10:41 AM in People

A MUM of three is on a mission to help youngsters fall in love with cooking by launching her very own recipe book.
Carolin Sommer, 37, unveiled 'My Tummy Yummies' at Cafe Africa, in Chesham Road on Wednesday (2/12) and has already sold 250 copies.
Parents and pupils at Amersham School and Chesham High School helped out by providing recipes for the books with pupils providing the illustrations.

Mrs Sommer said: "The inspiration for the book came from my passion for cooking and my passion for my three boys who are five, four, and two-years-old.
"I regularly see how much fun they have in the kitchen and how proud they are to show off what they have cooked and how it brings us all together.
"Many schools across the country are cutting cooking classes in school and my fear is that the essential life school of cooking will be lost on their generation.
"Fellow mums from across Chesham and Amersham helped me out by giving me some of their favourite recipes so the book can be something they can all be proud of."
A host of recipes fill the book from simple salads and quick savouries to more complicated dishes with all the proceeds going towards the PACE Centre, the Aylesbury based charity which provides care for disabled children.
"We wanted the proceeds to go to a local charity and the PACE centre great organisation who help children which disabilities become independent.
"A lot of their work is based on teaching them how to cook so it made sense really."
Copies of My Tummy Yummies can be bought for £5 online at www.getthekidscooking.com or in Waterstones in both Amersham and Chesham.
