CHILDREN in the Chiltern district are being urged to get fit and healthy in the new year by taking up a course for overweight youngsters.
Tips to help people get healthier in the New Year have been released by child obesity experts at MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition,Do it!).
THE Community Library in Little Chalfont is set to become the first wireless broadband hotspot in the village.
Visitors from Tuesday (5/1) will be able to access the service on their own laptop computers at the library in Cokes Lane.
Jim Brooks, chairman of the Friends of Little Chalfont Library charity, which formed to save the library from closure and is now run by unpaid volunteers, said:"We already offer free access to the internet via our desktop PCs. This new service will give library visitors the ability to access our broadband network and the internet via their own laptop computers."
He added: "Some people might think that libraries are only about borrowing books and we have an excellent stock but we think providing a range of services is also important, including using modern technology to access information available on the internet. It will be a valuable new service for both local residents and visitors to the area. "

A 12-year-old boy was among a group of four charged with distraction burglary offences targeting elderly people.
Patrick Nolan, 46, from Hampton, Middlesex, Michael Henge, 37, from Bicester, Oxfordshire, Bridget Todd, aged 34, from Uxbridge and the youngster from Uxbridge have been charged by Thames Valley Police with 21 counts of conspiracy to burgle between October 23 and December 17, in connection with offences that occurred across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, and Oxfordshire.

A MAN has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a car crash in Amersham left two people dead.
Jason Hazell, 29, of Cresswell Road, Chesham, has also been charged with driving without insurance and other than in accordance with a licence.
The charges relate to to a collision on A413 London Road on June 19 this year which killed Laura Smith, 20, and Stephen Smith, 24.
Hazell has been bailed and will appear at Aylesbury Magistrates Court on January 5.
