Woman found dead in flat
THE DECOMPOSING body of a 59 year old woman was in discovered in a flat in Washington Row, Amersham.
Deirdre Pocock was a diabetic who "kept herself to herself" and whose family lived far away, Amersham Coronor's Court heard today.
She was discovered dead by PC Reeves of Amersham Police on July 17 after a nurse at the surgery where she was being treated for type 2 diabetes raised the alarm.
Mrs Pocock had failed to turn up for an appointment earlier that month and when she had last been to her GP surgery for a check up, on June 24, her blood sugar level had been "very high" according to a report by GP Dr Neal.
Thinking this was out of character, Nurse Craig had telephoned her and knocked on her door and discovered that she had not attended Stokebury Day Centre in Amersham, where she was a regular, for two sessions.
She then called police who discovered her body lying in the foetal position on a bedroom floor.
Dr Turner, a consultant at Wycombe Hospital, was unable to establish a cause of death due to the long period of time since death.
Coroner Richard Hulett recorded an open verdict. He said: "On a reasoned speculative basis it's extremely likely she died as a result of natural causes probably as a result of her diabetes."
