Man re-bailed in connection to fatal crash
A MAN arrested in connection with a fatal car crash in which two people died has been re-bailed by police investigating.
A 29-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a collision on the A413 in which Laura Smith, 20, of Sixty Acres Road, Prestwood, and Stephen Smith, 24, of The Common, Holmer Green, died.
A silver Rover 420 left the road and hit a lamppost at 2.22am on June 19 while travelling towards Amersham after leaving Tinkers Nightclub in Chalfont St Peter. The pair were pronounced dead at the scene and two other male passengers - a 21-year-old and a 24-year-old - had to be taken to hospital after being left injured.
Police conducted a high-profile appeal for information at the nightclub in Denham Lane exactly a week after the deaths.
Floral tributes still mark the spot between Chalfont St Giles and Amersham where the pair died.
The driver will appear before police again on August 30. Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen the group at or leaving the nightclub, anyone who saw the car on the A413 before the collision or witnessed the crash.
