ELECTION RESULT: Amersham
AMERSHAM residents voted in two Conservative candidates in the county council elections yet again with the town mayor and a political stalwart winning seats.
Town Mayor Martin Phillips swept the board with 3,075 votes with Pauline Wilkinson MBE winning the second slot with 2,897 votes.
She was pushed hard by Lib Dem candidate Davida Allen who missed out by just 159 votes with a count of 2,738.
Susan Jordan (Lib Dem) was next with 2,202 votes, then came Peter Harper (Lab) with 299 votes and Oliver Hyams (Lab) with 295.
Mr Phillips said: "I am really pleased to have been elected alongside Pauline and we both campaigned very hard indeed to make this possible."
For Mrs Wilkinson, a Chesham Town councillor, it is her third consecutive term in office and she said the secret to her success was getting involved with the community.
She said: "We have a lot of work to do to make sure Amersham residents are represented fully with the county council.
"It is my third time and I put that down to hard work, dedication, and an unwavering desire to get involved in the community and fight for local issues."
The vote saw a turnout of 46 per cent.
