A GROUP of successful minority ethnic women councillors held a motivational session in Amersham last week to help encourage others to enter public life.
The Government Equalities Office organised the event at the Chiltern District Council offices, in King George V Road, on Friday morning led by the only minority ethnic female CDC councillor Mimi Harker (Con) who has represented Chesham Bois and Weedon Hill since 1999.
THE garden of 49 Chessfield Park, Liitlle Chalfont is being opened to the public on Sunday, June 28.
A major feature is the extensive planting of wildflowers and the wildflower meadow. Entry is £2 per adult and well behaved children are free.
Refreshments will be on sale. All proceeds to support Little Chalfont Community Library.

BRITISH Telecom are scrapping the cash payment facility from 14 public payphones in the Chilterns to help prevent theft and vandalism.
The company have chosen the payphones as they have been hit by ongoing attacks and hope that by making them cashless the maintenance costs they incur because of these will be lowered.
A SERIAL burglar has been jailed for four years after he was caught driving a car stolen during an Amersham theft.
Patrick Rooney, 24, from Rickmansworth, was arrested in October last year after Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) equipment clocked him driving a stolen blue Audi from an Amersham home.
In April 2009 he admitted a further 20 offences of burglary committed within Hertfordshire, Thames Valley, and London.
A FAMILY fun morning will be held at Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, June 20.
Activities at the event, in Penn Road, will include face painting, cakes, games, and refreshments.

AMERSHAM residents voted in two Conservative candidates in the county council elections yet again with the town mayor and a political stalwart winning seats.
Town Mayor Martin Phillips swept the board with 3,075 votes with Pauline Wilkinson MBE winning the second slot with 2,897 votes.
She was pushed hard by Lib Dem candidate Davida Allen who missed out by just 159 votes with a count of 2,738.
PATRCIA Birchley has been elected to represent Chiltern Ridges on Bucks County Council for another term with a mammoth victory.
The Conservative councillor won her landslide vote with 1,643 vastly ahead of her nearest rival Richard Williams (Lib Dem) with 550 votes.
Reverend Barry Kempson (UKIP) was third with 350 votes with Rob Craig (Greens) fourth with 249 votes.
DAVID Schofield has been elected as county council representative for Penn, Coleshill, and Holmer Green.
Mr Schofield (Con) won with 2,199 votes against Bob Young (Lib Dem) with 515 votes, Phillip Whitehead (UKIP) with 328 votes and Lynda Greenhill (Lab) with 145 votes.
He said: "I am so pleased to have been elected and would like to thank all the voters and the everyone who has helped me with my campaign."
There was a turnout of 47 per cent of the electorate in the ward.
