The Amersham School is an Olympic ambassador
The Amersham School was chosen to be the first in the country to host an education workshop promoting the message of the 2012 Olympic Games.
The workshop was delivered by the London 2012 Organising Committee and GE Healthcare, a key sponsor of the Games.
This programme will be rolled out across the country in the build up to London 2012 and is designed to encourage young people to develop programmes and activities which will have a positive impact on others.
On Tuesday students in years 6, 7 or 8, and their teachers, from Elangeni, Dr Challoner's Grammar School, Stoney Dean, Holmer Green Senior School and The Grange in Aylesbury attended the workshop.
Supporting the pupils during the event were year 12 students from Amersham School and volunteers from GE Healthcare.
Amersham School has been working closely with GE Healthcare over a number of years with Enterprise activities, mentoring programmes and work-based learning.
The event was led by the community manager at GE Healthcare, Lynn Johnson and the director of specialism at Amersham School, David Bridges.
Mr Bridges said "We know from last Summer how inspiring the Olympic and Paralympic games can be and it's important that we hold on to the values that they represent. The London 2012 Games were won on the basis that there would be a lasting legacy with an emphasis on youth. What better way to achieve this than by involving schools and their students? Amersham School is pleased to be involved and to help take this initiative forward."
"We are grateful for GE Healthcare's continuing support and for the financial and human resources they have contributed towards developing the schoolÕs Business and Enterprise specialism."
