Firefighter recruitment drive

Bucks Fire & Rescue Service has launched a recruitment drive for retained firefighters in Chesham and Amersham.
Mick Martin, area manager response, said: "In Buckinghamshire, part-time firefighters mainly provide cover in rural areas, but there are units located in the busier urban areas to provide fire cover alongside wholetime colleagues."

Trained RDS firefighters carry out the same job as their full-time colleagues, dealing with fires, road traffic collisions and community fire safety work, but and many combine it with their day job, he added. They are not based at fire stations, just on standby for calls.
To be a retained firefighter you need to be at least 18 years old, physically fit and live and/or work close to the fire station.
