KIDS at an Amersham School have taken the chequered flag in a national Christmas fun race which got them to exercise Formula One-type logical skills.
The winning quartet at Woodside Junior School in Mitchell Walk were Charlie Hardy, Sarah Platts, David Blight and Joseph Gocher and the event was billed as the Jaguar Cars Maths in Motion Challenge.

Cars Maths in Motion is a schools-only software application that simulates Formula One Grand Prix races. Competitors need to use a range of core maths skills to calculate speeds around the track, evaluate risk, set pit team strategies and work as a team to produce a winning car.
More than 1,000 schools around the country signed up for the challenge but Woodside got home first in the primary school category.
Head teacher Sue Harratt said: "This is a fantastic achievement. The application has caught the imagination of a talented and motivate group of children. My thanks go to team bosses Jack Gocher and Lise Smith."
Brian Richardson, from Jaguar Cars Maths, said: "Well done to Woodside, this is a great achievement in a very competitive situation.
"Our aim is to have some fun and to raise the standard of maths in schools at the same time, this is a great way to achieve that."
