Round Table shows its support

Posted by Greg Burns on Oct 20, 08 02:39 PM in Amersham news

Amersham-David-Burton.jpgThe organisation behind Amersham's annual carnival has revealed the extent of its community commitment during the past year.
Amersham Round Table, which has a total of 18 members, has put a lot of work into helping the community across a wide variety of projects.

The charity has backed a number of good causes during the past year, including: Workaid, The Endeavour Centre Wildlife Garden, in Chesham, The Child Bereavement Trust, Chiltern Gateway Club, Elmtree Infant School, the Chesham All Girls Band, Chesham Bois Scouts, Age Concern, Chiltern Air Ambulance, Scannappeal, Amersham Choral Society, The Henry Allen Nursery School, St Mary's School and Little Chalfont Library.
Aside from the carnival, Tablers also concentrate on organising a popular annual festive float, which tours around Amersham and district in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
David Burton, chairman of the Table's community services committee, has been reflecting on the work done during the past 12 months.
He said: "Although we currently have projects in our development pipeline, new ideas are always welcome. If you have a project or need that we could consider supporting during 2009 please let me know about it."
New members are being sought to swell the ranks of the existing body. Amersham residents, between the ages of 18 and 45, are welcome to join.
Round Table works in tandem with Ladies Circle Great Britain, which is the equivalent organisation for like-minded women.
Anyone with ideas or suggestions is welcome to get in touch with Mr Burton by e-mail at dj.burton@tiscali.co.uk or in writing at: 3, Pomeroy Close, Amersham, HP7 9BW.
