A landlord has assured customers his village pub will not become a strip joint after an application was submitted to remove the no nudity clause.
Bob Pugsley, landlord of the Chequers in Old Amersham, was shocked to find a request for the removal of smoking conditions was included with a number of other variations - including the removal of no nudity - because of the change in licensing laws in 2003.

A bike previously owned by Princess Diana is to go under the hammer at Amersham Auction Rooms next month.
A letter from the vendor confirms the authenticity of the bike. It states: "I am pleased to confirm (and guarantee) that the bicycle delivered to Amersham Auction Rooms was bought by me from Lady Diana Spencer, at the time of her engagement to Charles Prince of Wales. The said Raleigh bicycle was considered inconsistent with her future status.

Following on from the successful night walk in Amersham, Iain Rennie Hospice at Home is now asking supporters to take on a very special Christmas fundraiser.
Hundreds of Santas will be rushing around Lowndes Park on Sunday, November 30 to raise money for the charity. It is the first time it has held a Santa Dash, which will involve participants running or walking 1.5 miles around the park in a Santa outfit.

An Amersham scout group has fended off a strong challenge from five other troops to win the annual Bridge the Misbourne competition.
The winners were the Trailblazers Explorer Scout Unit attached to the Scout Group in Rectory Hill, Amersham.
This is an annual contest which tests the pioneering skills of those taking part and requires scouts to show versatility when it comes to competence with knots, lashings, and problem solving..

AMERSHAM College's plan to redevelop the campus have left some nearby residents fearing that increased traffic congestion will leave them with no choice but to turn their front gardens into parking spaces.
The entrance to the college, which currently has approximately 1,500 full-time students, is via Lincoln Park and residents there are worried that the new building will increase traffic and create a jam at the junction with Stanley Hill.

This was the question one film-maker tried to tackle when he entered the Soda Picture competition to explore his home town.
And now residents and workers in Amersham if their view of the town is similar to Marco Williamson's when it is shown on Channel Four next year.

AN AS level pupil at Dr Challoner's High School in Little Chalfont is focusing on a monumental fund raising battle in a bid to win a trip to far-off Costa Rica.
Zoe Hunt, 16, of Jasons Hill, Chesham, is determined to net her goal of £3,000 - which will qualify her for inclusion on the school's Operation Raleigh trip to Central America.
Children in Need takes place on Friday, November 14 and people across the country will be taking part in events from sponsored silences to jumping out of planes!
