Cycling for youngsters

Posted by Emma Lindsey on Aug 14, 08 03:09 PM in What's On

We ran a successful 2-day at Ashridge, near Berkhamsted, and 2-day at Lotts Wood, Amersham near with 12 young people including help from a new Level 1 coach from The Chalfonts Community College. Most took part in an open race night at Lotts Wood last night and all rode very commendably especially for their first event.

This is being followed up by a Race Day with coaching open to all young people on Sunday 14 September, organised by Summit Mountain Bike Club who lease the woods from the Forestry Commission. Moving on from that we have a half term holiday week at Green Park and Wendover Woods/Aston Hill.

We have a current focus on this area to build up the opportunities for the new British Cycling Go-Ride Clubs who have registered for Clubmark to attract more young people into cycling - Hemel Hempstead Cycling Club and (shortly) the Amersham Road Cycling Club. We have also recently registered a number of local schools as Go-Ride School Clubs

We'd like to hear from you.
