Amersham Council go greener

Posted by Julie Voyce on Aug 26, 08 02:08 PM in Local Authority

AMERHAM Town Council are pleased to announce it's continuing adoption of 'green technology' by installing 'Air Source Heat Pumps' in the 17th Century Market Hall.
These units extract heat from the surrounding air and transfer it to heat the hall.
They can be operated in reverse and thereby provide cooling in the summer. It is anticipated this technology will allow the Market Hall conditions to be improved when in the past it has been extremely hot in the summer months and extremely cold in winter.

The units consume just 1.7 kwh and will replace the 6x3kw convector heaters previously used. Trials by the Swedish Energy Agency have confirmed a saving of 63% when used in a domestic environment.
The new technology will not only allow the temperature to be controlled but also permit the system to be pre-programmed thereby ensuring the hall conditions are acceptable at the beginning of any hiring.

We'd like to hear from you.
